Wedding Photo Tips
Over the years, Kyle Zimmerman Photography has discovered a few wedding photography tips
that will help you be thrilled with the results of your professional wedding photography.
- Like your photographer
You are going to spend a lot of time in close proximity with your photographer on the most important day of your life. You should like them. - Like your photographer’s style and work
Think about what you most like in the photography you’ve seen. Do you like photos that are more traditional or more contemporary? A good photographer can mix styles. - Professional equipment and back up
Your photographer will be responsible for capturing images that should last a lifetime. There is NO EXCUSE for failure of equipment. Every professional should have adequate backup equipment and the ability to stay calm no matter what happens. This ability comes with experience. - Back up photographer
Make sure that your chosen photographer has an emergency backup plan…Anything can happen. A true professional should be prepared. - Know that you can you rely on them
Consider the prospective wedding photographer’s reputation in your community. Do they have a track record of showing up when they say they will, and doing what they say they will do? This is important, since you have only one chance to capture your wedding. - Get a contract you understand and agree with
Your photographer has a contract that outlines the details, promises and requirements of your agreement. It should be something you understand and are comfortable with. - Get quality product that fits your lifestyle
The albums and custom enlargements you receive should be of the finest quality. One of the things that sets a professional apart from the amateur photographer is the ability to produce finished product that is processed and created by hands that know how to produce quality. - Ask your photographer for tips on lighting, timing, and venue. They’ve seen it all!
Your photographer is a good resource for deciding what time the ceremony or group photos should take place. It’s a good idea to talk to them before making those important scheduling decisions. - Have a family liaison
On the actual day of the wedding it can be helpful to have a family member or friend act as the chosen liasion with your photographer to ensure that everyone important is included in certain shots. - Choose a photographer who will be nice to your families
Your photographer should be creative, confident, professional, open-minded, experienced and more. But most importantly they should be nice! They should be able to relate to you and your fiancée/husband and ‘get’ who you two are. But they should also know how to be a diplomat and a friend to the wide variety of people who will be at your celebration.
