Talent Photo Tips

Over the years, Kyle Zimmerman Photography has discovered a few talent photography tips
that will help you get the most out of your photo session:

  1. For actors, remember…your shot needs to look like you look! ‘THEY’ need to know your coloring, your hair length AND that your eyes are a bit uneven too! They may be looking for a girl with a crooked smile, someone JUST LIKE YOU!
  2. For portfolio shots, keep it simple…don’t wear outfits or jewelry that define you personally.
  3. If you’re not sure what to wear, bring a couple of options to choose from and we’ll help you decide.
  4. Think about your audience and the purpose for these shots and be ready to explain to us any nuances: Is this for a portfolio? A program brochure? An article? A poster? Some combination? What is your goal in using these photos?
  5. Let go of your pre-conceived ideas of how you should “pose.” Let us help you create the most effective shots to achieve your stated purpose.
  6. Allow us to help you reveal what is special and unique about YOU. Even though you will be playing a role, it is what is special about YOU that allows you to play this role well.
  7. Most important, relax and enjoy your session. This is an opportunity to “play” at achieving different effects and looks. You are a professional! Let it roll and come naturally.
