“Larger Than Life,” a photography project by Kyle Zimmerman, was unveiled Thursday, September 11, 2008 at the Albuquerque Community Foundation’s
annual grant awards and donor appreciation luncheon. Zimmerman donated 150 hours of her time and labor photographing the clients and projects of
12 local non-profit organizations with the goal of telling their stories through pictures.

“I contacted the Albuquerque Community Foundation with the idea of finding one non-profit to which I could donate photographs, as a way of giving back to the community for their support over the years,” says Zimmerman, owner of Kyle Zimmerman Photography. “In our discussions, I discovered what important work the Foundation does to leverage donor funds to make an even bigger impact. We worked together to identify 11 local groups, with the Foundation itself becoming the 12th non-profit.”

The non-profit groups were chosen from each of the Albuquerque Community Foundation’s six program areas: arts and culture; children and youth; education; health and human services; environmental and historic preservation. Says Kelli Cooper, Communications Director for the Foundation. “Because the Foundation is one of the groups who will receive these images, we’re using them in our own marketing and donor appreciation efforts, including a multi-media slide show at the luncheon.”

The project quickly morphed from a simple series of photographs that told one organization’s story to include a series of copyright free images for each group on disc and a coffee table book of each organization’s images for them to use in their marketing and donor appreciation efforts, adds Zimmerman.

The discs and books will be presented to each group at the event.

Four large format (4’ by 8’) images decorated the Foundation’s annual luncheon  on September 11, 2008 at the Hotel Albuquerque. Four 3-story acrylic encased columns
(8’ by 4’) each holding 20 smaller images will also be on display there. The large images will be on permanent exhibit in the Foundation’s conference room,
while the photo columns will be shown in the Foundation’s gallery.
